I'm here to talk about the public engagement process.

And just kind of, you know, what's kind of been your experience?

So we also have a little bit of some order in the county.

that's just something that we're emphasizing this and I think communicating on that part of the workshop and there's like it's not just one little narrative thing we're talking about in the operas that's what we're focusing on but please we need to be better than everything and getting that message across people think they have their one little issue that they want to hit on and then they come in and then they say done I've done my part and walk away and

So I think it's been interesting just learning about planning from a not planned perspective, you know.

What is it specifically that you're trying to accomplish and what are your objectives as a community?

you know, for these kind of things and trying to educate them from, instead of just like hearing us talk at them, trying to like, okay, here's how we engage and why are we thinking, try to apply our learning into what we would like to see as well.

This is my very specific thing, I'm trying to get from here to here.

It's just, it's really hard to get people to do anything other than just talk about those, what is my immediate needs to get to where I need to go?

Okay.

Some things are just of greater interest than other things to people.

So really, we'll actually start off with the painting process.

I think we can hide there.

Do you want to have that calendar out that needs to overlap and perfectly fit in with your engagement plan with your overall planning process?

Does that take out your time?

Yes, definitely it does, for sure.

That's not several.

So really focusing in on that.

Because any time you reach out to the public, send a press release, put it up on your website, put it up on media posts, or whatever that might be, you need to have like some sort of an ask in here.

You just have to kind of bring them in and put some sort of out of bounds markers in so they participate, but not throw the whole process off.

I do think that's important.

So we use data in order to analyze data to create information.

So an example is Cherry Avenue.

Cherry Avenue, that's right.

They'd be talking to people, and I asked this question to them.

I'm like, yeah, I didn't do that.

I just want a place to meet people, like to meet my friends in a new gallery.

You just want a gallery.

The most basic set of engagement is a public hearing.

So you have a rezoning case.

If lock-in was still a thing, I guess that's done, right?

No.

We're doing their special use products nights.

That'd be a little too extreme for like a table.

So you get to get out there.

You're steering that process.

Focus groups should be focused on specific topics and issues.

And what are some of the issues of the item?

And the general question is just because I, how much time do I have?

Is that, if you all are enjoying this.

So yeah, so we always want to, in this process, we would go back to what did our planning process at the end,

Planning process might be a little different depending on whether you're doing a solar query.

You might lay out your scope of work, obviously, scope of work is kind of this pre-phase here to have that in place.

I personally like charter plans, so it's a plan from plan.

Goal statements, as we mentioned, are surveys good for that.

No, they're not.

When you finish the plan at this stage, you get really happy.

and you just have to restart lines, not to finish line.

There's not much engagement on that.

I thought we just did smart scale.

Smart scale is never ending.

identified as far as the overall project application process.

Is that just projects that are not ready?

That went through to pursue a final score.

Yeah.

And so one of the things, one of the other outcomes that they're evaluating is that if they make this adjustment, it looks like the overall average cost of projects that are selected for funding increases in value a little bit.

And so having that, I'm not looking at what types of projects I'm going to be able to submit.

So right now, what currently happens is that...

There's nobody on the Zoom.

So what happens apparently is the way that Father and I funded is, I don't know.

Redefining the high priority programs to truly fund what they're saying are going to be these significant projects on significant corridors of state interest.

I did do a quick review.

I really want to encourage you all to follow the CTP meeting, but also feel free to use us as a resource if that's helpful and if this is something you need more information about, which I'm following.

And it's still two years.

Still every two years.

So it would need to change and be embedded more than I expected.

I mean, I haven't officially adopted anything yet, but I think that's typically what they plan, which might be one of the things that I have been talking about in the work group is some of these changes may need a little bit more of the intent in order for us to be able to have applications already.

Demkia has already talked about project selection for the next cycle.

I don't know that they would need this for a year.

No, that's the economic development score that's based on that.

walkable or accessible different types of uses are compared to the project that we're doing.

As a result of our cap grant on our village, we've got more engagement from local stakeholders.

and I met with David Cook and VDOT folks to get a little bit of some ideas on how to do it and I've just been meeting this morning with a stakeholder who really brought this up to go over what it would be like if they were interested in trying to enhance about what they're going to enhance and what they could provide so I think what it came to be was

The brand is great and what it's actually meant to buy to the people outside of this United States.

So that's, that's what they're going to be, personally.

It's just, it's always a little in context.
