    And so I was told to take it to the Ivy Dump, you know, and

    You know, I live like a half a mile, I live right in Holmes Run right here, and I live like a half a mile from this dump.

    And I've been using it for over 30 years.

    And I know, you know, being a transfer station, I get that it's not a landfill.

    But still, I was thinking maybe, you know, we could look into maybe just outsourcing

    You know, they just keep that big trailer there that they transfer and maybe check in with outsourced businesses and stuff and just see if we could afford to still dump the clean fill and stuff there.

    And, you know, I just think that it

    it kind of pushes the building business away a little bit.

    And I've heard a couple of the other people that build are having problems with it.

    And I'm sure you've seen the press release we put out today, letting everyone know we did receive

    We can still continue to work on approving our rating which is very high for those of you who are not familiar with the ratings.

    Now I got to get my thoughts together, but I really appreciate y'all giving me a few moments to speak to the board about my excitement for a new partnership that we've been able to enter into here in Greene County.

    And so we have partnered with Care Portal, and I'm going to tell you a little bit more about that in a second, but I wanted to share kind of what

    brought us to this point, which for me was kind of a, we kind of recognized that we have kind of three points of interest together.

    And so what it was was really a kind of a shared set of values, a shared group of beliefs that we believe in the inherent worth of the individual

    and we believe that the family is the foundation of our society.
  • 00:14:21
    It's the building block and so we know that when our families and people are struggling then they are
  • 00:14:30
    indicating to us, to me anyway, that our society is struggling.
  • 00:14:35
    And so how can we help do that?

    One of the things that we do at social services is to attempt to preserve families.
  • 00:14:44
    When we see families that are struggling, we want to do whatever we can to keep them together.
  • 00:14:49
    That's our first line of defense.
  • 00:14:52
    And so we want to make sure that that happens.
  • 00:14:55
    When it doesn't happen, of course, we may have to find other avenues for safety, but
  • 00:15:00
    We want to preserve those families and if we have to you know if a child can't stay in a in a home for a little while hopefully quickly we want to reunify them with their family as quickly as possible and make sure that You know that family can move on kind of in a more holistic manner and take care of the children and so we have this

    shared set of values and this recognized set of needs, which is when the family is struggling, well, what is it that's causing those barriers?
  • 00:15:30
    What is it that's resulting in the dysfunction that's going on at the current time?

    What is separating that family?
  • 00:15:40
    And so a lot of times those are physical needs.
  • 00:15:44
    They just can't
  • 00:15:46
    You know, we struggle with a lot of poverty and we struggle with a lot of needs that separate families and homelessness and all of that kind of stuff.

    And so we want to try and find ways to

    resolve that.

    And so that leads us to that shared vision, which is, you know, how can we take this targeted, very specific population of people who are in need and help them find resources.

    And in this day of diminishing resources, at least on the government side, you know, sometimes we have to, those resources rise up from community.

    And so

    We love partnerships and we love efficiency.

    It's a good combination.

    And Care Portal offered us both.

    For a long time, we've worked well with the Green Alliance for Church and Community efforts here in the community.

    And we hope to do that for years and years to come.

    But what Care Portal is offering us, and Green Alliance blesses it and works closely with them as well.

    But what's offered through Care Portal is an online
  • 00:16:56
    platform for us to be able to put the needs of families out there, very specific needs right now, but put those needs out there into cyberspace.

    And the CARE portal has built this network, or is beginning to build this network of

    churches, organizations, people that may be interested in meeting those specific needs.

    For instance, we may be able to put out there, hey, this family needs a washer and dryer, whatever it may be.

    And it goes into the platform and those churches can then view it right then and there real time and see what those needs are.

    In fact, I use the example of a washer and dryer because we did that recently.

    And within

    I'm going to say 24 hours, but I think it was actually less than that within that quick period of time.

    We had a washer and dryer for that family.

    And you know, sometimes it's the foster family or the grandparents that may have taken those children in or the family that's trying to take care of them.

    And so, you know, all of a sudden you have

    A sibling group of four come into your home.

    Well, surprise, surprise.

    Guess what?

    There's a lot of needs there.

    We may need bunk beds.

    We may need sheet sets.

    We may need who knows what that family may need, but it can be a lot and it can be overwhelming for some of our families that especially when they're taking in kids.

    So, you know, we don't want to see people struggling.

    We want to try to help them.

    and Care Portal has allowed us to be able to do that and so they've built a network of churches and I'm not going to try to tell you who they are.

    I've got them to hand out to you because I don't want to forget anybody and that's important to me because I don't want to leave anybody out and so I've got a couple of handouts that just will

    We'll tell you who the churches are and kind of what Care Portal looks like at least on the national level and how you can access it because even individuals can go into Care Portal, see what the needs are and although they can't

    How Care Porter works is they work with the churches to train specific people in the church to be able to go out.

    That's the beautiful part of it.

    Once we put our need out there, we no longer have to do anything.

    The last trailer is the park manager.

    So we're actively trying to get a part two expansion completed so that the people who are left in part one will have some place to move.
