May I entertain a motion to go into closed session?

Pursuant to Virginia Code section 2.2-3711A1 for discussion and consideration of prospective candidates to be appointed to the following board or committee, Charlottesville Planning Commission.

Reading back in, I move that this council certify by a recorded vote that to the best of each council member's knowledge only public business matters lawfully exempted from the open meeting requirements of the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and identified in the motion convening the closed session were heard, discussed, or considered in the closed session.

Do we make the announcement of the two individuals now?

We have to actually vote publicly.

I move that we appoint Josh Karp and Ross Harness to the Planning Commission.
