because I remember at one time we were talking about giving OLLI some space at Albemarle High School.

We do rent and we are a little teeny tiny non-profit and we work really hard to keep the pricing structure down because we want it to be, we want OLLI to be for everyone.

Because I can't give away county school space.

I appreciate that it's even.

But I was curious as to whether or not you'd solved your space needs.

As I mentioned, this discussion is intended, as I understand it, to kick off a discussion of your thoughts about what you might like to pursue legislatively in 2023.

Mr. Blunt, do you have anything you want to add at this point?

I'm just happy to answer questions.

I believe I gave you some incorrect information the other day when I gave you that.

I still think we should continue with those.

Supervisor Galloway?

But it will help inform the item I added to the agenda later tonight.

I would love to hear if there are tweaks that could improve their chances, otherwise just to continue lobbying.

Supervisor McKeel.

For the ones that we've been talking about though, I certainly do support in general these going forward, but there might be things that we could change to make them stronger is what I'm getting at.

I'm trying to remember what else was on our tickler list because I know there have been some things mentioned that I'm drawing a blank.

We did have a ticklers list that Greg had and I don't know if he shared that with... Well we can just make sure we can look into that.

I worked only from your adopted legislative priorities.

a time to meet with our legislators because it becomes a very quick process for sponsorship and carrying of bills and I felt last year that we were a little behind the power curve on that and I just want to make sure that we're not this year.

That's usually the problem.

But from our standpoint, we need to do what we can to try and get that set.

That'd be great.

Mr. Blunt, you're not going to be able to escape without coming to the podium.

And if there is a desire to come back again to try again to have additional flexibility afforded to other public bodies, that she may be inclined to do so.

Supervisor Mallek?

Have you heard any rumblings about the meeting of the SB 400 advisory committee?

And so maybe after we get past the end of the fiscal year, we'll see some of these things that are directed to be done during the interim start to move.

Would it be Secretary Lohr or somebody else?

Hudson noted it was within the Department of Housing and Community Development that was charged.

It's not created or authorized until the bill is passed and the bill has a reenactment clause.

So my guess is it would kind of grow out of that division of DHCD.

So that's the same group who told us they didn't want to do it.

But I'm going to make a note to check into that to see if there's been any discussions about how that might be proceeding.

I know Baco has one seat at the table, but there are 12 industry people on the other side.

Yes, there's industry.

It's really interesting.

Hudson, do you have what you need from us at this point?

So those will be coming to an agenda near you to be effective by September 1 when this statute takes effect.

to strengthen those requests?

Or if there was a way to do it, how you would go about doing that.

For example, with the erosion and sediment, you know, what we're talking about there, certainly there's a direct connection to climate change, but maybe given the flavor of the General Assembly, maybe mentioning that is

I know in the past, the county attorney's office has been very helpful in putting language for the legislators, which helps them.

I appreciate you responding.

Well, I mean, I had to ask you if you had any.

So those are the two big, those are the suggestions I would make.

Reeves who is here today in case there are questions during the end around panhandling homelessness and police involvement.

Demick, it might just be me, but perhaps if you could move your microphone a little closer to your mouth, I can't quite hear you.

and Mr. Harrow will talk about the point in time.

And then evictions, the eviction moratoria ending is going to also have an impact on the number of people who need to access homeless services.

And so we will yield for questions for discussion.

Supervisor LaPisto-Kirtley, if we could pull you back in.

I would like to see something vis-a-vis of a sign even if it doesn't last it or doesn't have a long-term impact it might it just might it might discourage some people so that's my two cents.

And those are just some thoughts and I guess remarks on that.

Supervisor Andrews?

We're also, if it's okay, I can ask a question about the homelessness because that's what we're trying to tie into and I'm curious about the spot studies and the effect of weather and I don't bring it up lightly because with climate issues we're going to see different effects and I'm wondering what do you see when you go out and do these things when we're talking about a January like we had this year compared to perhaps milder times and how much impact does that have on our homelessness?

I hope that answers your question.

But I would say that there's many, many people in this community, many of the service providers would say that it would be exceptional to find somebody who they had not already had some contact with.

Interesting.

I'll get it right.

Both of us are blond with glasses.

And you're in order.

Could you just speak to that for a minute?

The street outreach portion that, yeah, so that's what I would say.

Because I was always shocked at the numbers that we saw when I was on the school board.

And so those would be families that actually hadn't touched school systems yet and so don't necessarily have access to the services that school systems can provide.

I think I kind of get it, but there's been some frustration in the community about that.

But Premier Circle does not deny people based on mental health needs at all.

So you're saying to me that that's not true.

That is not true.

I'm glad to hear that.

And if you had specific, I'm happy to talk with you about specific concerns.

That qualifies them for a whole other level of services, right?

So there might have been during a time where that change was happening, but mental health was never used as a way to deny someone.

We'll now go to the other blonde-haired supervisor with glasses, Supervisor Mallek.

There's been some filtering around in the press, and I'd just love to have you explain what the truth is on all of that.

And then we're looking at different options for shelter should folks not be able to transition into housing past the end of premiere circle.

So this may be something that's way down the road, but are you aware at all of what I'm rambling on about here?

And it'll be very interesting to meet with Mr. Saxton to ask how that's going and what number of calls are coming in, what the needs are, and are they able to connect the people to an available resource.

So I think that that's my feedback to the board is we're hearing yes, proceed in those ways, signage, feed outreach, and other activities, including how this may work with the new program for mental health response.

So it's not as if I'm expecting it July the 2nd.

You go ahead and make different kinds of signs at different intersections and perhaps mix them up because you want people to not get used to just ignoring the sign.
