So before I hand off to Lori Alshaus on that last item that I mentioned previously, I just wanted to check in with our board and check and see if there's consensus from you on the extension of the strategic plan.

Supervisor Malek, you're up first.

And yes, I'm supportive.

So I don't know if, Jeff, that's something you can comment to or Doug or Christy or different folks, but that's just something that I feel we need to have that kind of ability to do some maneuvering if need be, and not just wait for the next strategic plan

Did I say that back to you in a way that makes sense?

I just want to make sure that we're flexible and can maneuver priorities that this board suggests yes that does rise to this next level because who knows maybe we can get that accomplished and knocked out and then we have a whole different outlook on our next strategic plan.

I'm tracking what you're saying, and it makes sense to me.

Kristi, you got what you need from us there?

So this is something that could, the monies could also be used for that type of thing.

It just says these words and I think that's up to our community and you as a board to determine as part of the budget process and part of the initiatives that you want to do exactly what you want to do with it.

Supervisor McKeel?

and we all grew up following that you don't litter climate or culture and we've gotten away from that and I would love to see obviously environmental cleanup and mitigating litter pollution but to be able to do some education so we don't have the litter to clean up at the end of the day would really be great so I'm thrilled to see this and thank you very much.

What kind of revenue does this generate that would go into this?

So it's going to be one of those pieces that we'll have to see how it goes, but to be thoughtful that a lot of change behavior will probably happen based on this change.

I guess I was trying to wrap my brain around how do you even get an idea of what a number is?

Yeah, we'll have a few jurisdictions out ahead of us, and I think that's another way that we can see the changes that they've had, and there has been other states that have implemented this tax, so I think that's some research we can do as well to put our heads around it some.

Supervisor Malle, you got another question?

It's their job to take care of the waste.

How does the county use this, etc., because I think that's definitely an important part of what folks would need to hear when they start looking at diagrams, pictures, things like that.

So that's what I would say as just an overarching rationale for where we are now.

because that did appear to be one of the principal concerns that the community members had was moving the traffic closer up to them rather than further down towards KTEC and as of yet at least an undeveloped property understanding that that property is also ripe for applications for development.

So I hope I kind of answered your question.

They've been very clear about what they want, and I think we can meet that for them.

It's moving the curb or introducing a curb, but it's not like, in terms of infrastructure improvements, it's relatively simple.

You're going to go off, do some stuff, and come back and make your tweaks and make some new suggestions based on the feedback you're receiving.

Yes, I could clarify that a little bit, but you're generally right.

But do you get the gist of my question?

We ended up stopping thinking about it after a while, but if what I'm hearing is it's worth our time to reconsider, we certainly will.

you know right now that center turn lane allows a lot of the left turn movements between Pillsdale and the Warner Parkway makes that corridor work because people can get out take a left into the center turn lane then merge over to their traffic so if you've got folks coming out and making left turns whichever direction they're going and we have a raised closed median how are we getting them to where they need to be if the left turn is still their their intent

And that is worth discussing, but the intent is not that it's a closed median the whole way, but that it's mostly a median and that median opens up for access where access is most warranted.

So yeah if you were coming out onto Rio from one of those side streets you would come up to the corridor like you do now and then there's a full median break and it basically operates kind of like Belvedere operates now

It's really almost a case-by-case situation.

and whether or not it may still be necessary just based on the volume of cars that are coming out of now a non-stopping intersection that the roundabout would create.

This is all along with the way of saying, I think it sounds like we need to spend some time considering this and chasing this out.

Can you just remind us how you're projecting what you think future numbers are going to be and how you get at that?

If what we're hearing is largely supportive of X, Y, or Z concepts, then we'll begin to run those volumes through those solutions.

Do I have that accurate in my brain?

So let me stop and see if Daniel has anything to add there or other board members.

I don't want to refine this if it's not valuable anyway.

Yeah, listen, I'm sorry.

I think I'm going to have to bail out in about five minutes.

We'll just do two roundabouts.

I believe the expectation was if we needed to have further conversations that we would be back in front of the board in December, recognizing that that's around the time that it would be optimal to give direction so that we're not holding up VDOT and their work as they move forward with their project as it's currently contemplated.

and hope to get back to you as soon as we've done good work on the project.
